1A. Names are very important.
- “the name of a man is humbling blow from which he never recovers”
- the name was a picture of a life given mission in biblical times
- proverbs 22:1 – “a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches”
2A. Jesus’ names are most important of all.
- The names are couplets
- Counselor (yo ‘eitz) – Not only a listener, but also speaks Godly wisdom
- Greek wisdom is to know, to the Hebrew wisdom is to do.
- Good decisions are made in plurality
- people who get themselves isolated get themselves in trouble
3A. Jesus came to be a Counselor.
4A. Jesus is a Wonderful Counselor.
- Wonderful (pele’) – it translates miraculous, not Wonderful, super naturally insightful, canning get it from any other source.
5A. We can call him Wonderful Counselor if we embrace his wisdom for my life.
- starts with salvation, then life, family, finances, future, etc.
